Clarkefield is a rural town located 46km NW of the Melbourne CBD on Melbourne-Lancefield road. The last Census recorded a population of 433. Clarkefield is located on the Bendigo-Melbourne railway line. Clarkefield is home to the historic bluestone Coach and Horses Inn (aka "Clarkfield Pub") which was built in 1857.
Set against a superb backdrop of the Macedon Ranges, the local area is made up of predominantly farm holdings with some remnant grasslands. The Clarkefield gorge is spectacular.
